Şcoala Gimnazială “Ştefan cel Mare” is a lower secondary school; it is one of the best schools in the town/ region. It is 25 years old, but it has functioned in its actual building since 2010. The school is situated in the centre of Bistriţa, a nice town in the North-West of Transylvania, Romania.
There are 895 students aged 7 to 15 years old and they are organised in 21 primary classes and 15 secondary classes.
 The students study all the subjects in the National School Curricula (Mathematics, Romanian, English, French, German, Sciences, Technology, Religion, Physical Education, Civics, Art, Music, History, Geography, Computer Science), but  we have also classes of Journalism, Gastronomy and classes where students study English four times a week . Our students are very hard-working and involved in curricular and extracurricular activities. They have obtained a large number of prizes in regional and national school competitions. 1st, 2nd, 3rd  prizes in Mathematics, Romanian, Linguistics, French, English, Physics, Technology National Contests and also many prizes in Sport competitions. Last year, following the National Graduation Exam, our school obtained the 1st rank among the schools in Bistrita-Nasaud county.
 There are 62 teachers  (26 primary teachers and 26 secondary teachers) who are all very committed to the teaching process as well as to getting involved in extracurricular activities and projects. There is a school psychologist, a support teacher and a nurse. Our school also has a  cafeteria where some students have lunch, three laboratories ( Science, Geography/ History, Computer Science), a modern gym and an outdoor sport field.
There is a strong public-private partnership between our school and the Parents Association in the school, local NGOs, decisional public institutions from our county and bussines sector.
