TIPS ABOUT IT

Kildare Place School (KPS) is a mixed primary school, located in the suburb of Rathmines about 3km from Dublin city centre. It is a Church of Ireland school, and is located on the grounds of the Church of Ireland College of Education where many of the teachers completed their initial teacher education.
There are about 220 pupils over the eight mainstream classes. There are 12 full time teachers, 8 of whom are mainstream classes, and the others work in Learning Support and Resource positions. The school makes every effort to integrate special educational needs and support pupils with additional learning difficulties.
The school is public, and follows the national curriculum. Subjects taught include Maths, Irish, English, Religion, History, Geography, Science, Art, Music, Drama, Religion and Physical Education. The standard of education in KPS is very high, as demonstrated in annual standardised literacy and numeracy tests. Many teachers and parents organise extracurricular activities for pupils after school including many sports (football, badminton, table tennis, hockey, swimming), dance & drama, art & crafts, chess and French lessons.
Nearly all pupils speak English as their first language. The parent body is very supportive of the school, and highly value education.
The school has very good community links with the local library, guards and the elderly community. The school regularly contributes to local charities, and puts on an annual concert for the elderly in Rathmines.
